Once upon a time ...

Welcome to Whisper! This is a fansite dedicated to Princess Garnet Til Alexandros XVII or Dagger, as she is affectionately referred to as, a fictional princess from the amazing and heartwrenching Final Fantasy IX. Out of all the Final Fantasy heroines, Garnet is one that is often overlooked, but those that love her know she's one of the most graceful and selfless characters ever created (and definitely a role model Final Fantasy leading lady). A character like that needs to be celebrated! Hence this site (though the question of whether or not I did a good job is questionable).

Whisper has been alive and kicking since December 2004, and since it is nearing its fourth birthday (I just know I'll have no time nor motivation to do anything about the site come Christmas time/exam time), I gave myself a large head start and redesigned the look of the site. The last layout was rather dark and gloomy, which I felt reflected Garnet's inner emotions for the most part of the game (she wasn't exactly cheerful and optimistic a lot of the time), but for an early birthday layout, I decided light colours is definitely the best. And when in doubt which colour to pick, you can't go wrong with pink for princesses.

I've received lovely e-mails from visitors who took time out of their busy lives just to tell me how much they enjoyed my site, and how great it is that there's a site out there celebrating Garnet. Stuff like that is what pushes me to continue with my web projects :) I just wanted to extend a huge thank you to those people over the years, and it's not just the anonymous letter writers, but my wonderful friends on LiveJournal too. Without you guys, this site wouldn't still be standing here (er, floating?)

What happened to the fanlisting?

For visitors who have dropped by in the past, you may be wondering, "Where did the fanlisting portion go?" Around April 2008, I made the decision to quit the fanlistings world, which meant resigning from my position as a category staffer at AFL, as a Troubles checker at TFL, and of course, releasing 20+ fanlistings into the wild. It was especially hard to let go of Garnet's fanlisting, considering I had it for 3+ years, and I held onto it as long as I stubbornly could. I finally let it go when I decided my dear and wonderful friend Janice would be the perfect owner for Garnet because I don't know anybody else who has a deep appreciation for "weak" FF princesses like I do. So check out its new home at Lilac. Janice has done a wonderful job with it, and I couldn't be happpier.

So after I officially gave the fanlisting portion away (forms filled in, e-mails received), I totally forgot to take down the fanlisting section at Whisper, so I still had people joining, but I never added them, and I just want to apologize for being such an airhead.
